Keeping a Backpack Organized

  • Jul 31, 2024

Tired of rummaging through your backpack to find that one item? Whether you're backpacking, heading to school, or commuting to work, a disorganized backpack can be a major hassle. Below are some tips to keep that backpack organized and rummaging to a minimum.

  1. Start with the basics: A clean and empty backpack is all you need to get going.
  2. Take note: What's the largest item that can fit, how many pockets and which have zippers?
  3. Gather: Get everything you want to take with you.
  4. Ditch the excess: Be picky about what you actually take; you don’t need unnecessary items pulling you down.
  5. Sort: Organize your items into groups and where you think you want to put them based on how often you’ll need them.
  6. Load up: Fill up that backpack.
  7. Organize and re-organize: Maybe something didn’t fit where you thought it would, or after a few days you realize there’s a better place for an item you need often.
  8. Stay ahead: Don't let the junk accumulate; throw out those old receipts and candy wrappers.
